Hello everyone, recently I had the pleasure to be a guest speaker on the “Small Talk Show” hosted by the beautiful, Nancy Guitar.

We talked about what The Book Bags is all about, how it came into existence, the driving motivation behind it, and so much more.

We also touched on how Covid restrictions isolated seniors and left so many people without anyone to talk to, or books to read, or puzzles to solve. Through the Book Bags, we were able to provide activities and friendship for those people – out of something really bad came something really great!

Covid came and went but that doesn’t mean that social and physical isolation no longer exist. There are so many people in our communities who are living alone, who are unable to get out of the house, who have limited income, or have no contact with their neighbors or others in their community.

As responsible individuals, we need to step up and take care of those people and spread joy in their lives. We need to “be a reason for someone’s smile”! And that is exactly what the Book Bags is trying to do.

From its small beginnings, we have built a community of volunteers and recipients who have formed connections and built friendships by helping one another.
